I love springtime for many reasons. But one is because of a little work time called, “spring cleaning”. A closet here, a closet there, the garage, the laundry room, kitchen cabinets, whatever is in need of a little TLC is getting ready to get it.
This list isn’t the only thing needing some TLC though. The change in the weather and a bit more daylight, gives me energy to put a little “spring” in my step to get outdoors and exercise more. (Not to mention swimsuit time is here. Haha)
Doesn’t it feel good when things are clean and organized? It’s a sense of pure accomplishment. A smile comes on my face. I stand a little taller. “Ahhh”, a sigh of satisfaction. I sit back and enjoy the clean laundry room, or whatever closet got cleaned out, for a brief time because, let’s admit it, it won’t stay that way for too long. LOL.
Luke 3:15-18 (MSG) says,
15The interest of the people by now was building. They were all beginning to wonder, “Could this John be the Messiah?”
16-17But John intervened: “I’m baptizing you here in the river. The main character in this drama, to whom I’m a mere stagehand, will ignite the kingdom life, a fire, the Holy Spirit within you, changing you from the inside out. He’s going to clean house—make a clean sweep of your lives. He’ll place everything true in its proper place before God; everything false he’ll put out with the trash to be burned.”
18-20There was a lot more of this—words that gave strength to the people, words that put heart in them. The Message! But Herod, the ruler, stung by John’s rebuke in the matter of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife, capped his long string of evil deeds with this outrage: He put John in jail.
Reading those bold print words today made me think of “spring cleaning”.  “A change from the inside out, sweet!  A total make-over… I’ll take it!   I can use some of that daily in my life. “He’s going to clean house’” God is welcome to clean my house anytime.  “He’ll place everything true in its proper placeeverything false He’ll put out with the trash to be burned”, Keep the good and get rid of the bad. Organization… Love it!
Allow God to do some “spring cleaning” in you. Much like my feeling of satisfaction after admiring my clean closet or room, you will enjoy a peace and freshness in your life if you allow Him to get busy cleaning. Just don’t allow “spring cleaning from God” to happen once a year. Let it be daily. His payment plan is great! He is free!
