Jany

Jany

I woke up this morning thinking about my mom, me as a mother, all the motherly-influences I am blessed with in my life, and my late mother-in-law.
Tears began to come as I pondered on all the wonderful memories I have with Jany.  There were tears of fondness, treasured times, “what would she say to this situation…”, sadness, and then joy again.
I felt the urge to grab her bible.  So I simply asked, “Where, dear Lord, do I begin?  What verse does Jany want to reveal to me now?” Well, John 3:16 came to mind.  I was like, “What, the most well-known verse in the bible?  Okay.”  Before I step out of bed I said John 3:16 to myself and smiled.  A sense of tranquility came over me as the final three words were contemplated. Yes, Jany is living the “everlasting life” that Jesus Christ has offered to us all.
When I opened Jany’s bible to John 3:16, some precious mementos were between those pages (more on that next month).  When I gently slid those keepsakes aside there was John 3:16 with a star beside it, brackets to the left of it, and Jany’s penned words, “I love this verse”.  Not only did I smile, but had a little giggle.
Even while in heaven, Jany wants to share the greatest gift of all…a life everlasting with Jesus Christ.
Do you know Jesus as your personal Savior?  If not, please accept the greatest gift of all.  It may be Mother’s Day, but your Heavenly Father would love for you to spend time with Him.
Happy Mother’s Day to my husband’s momma and my “everlasting” mom, Rebecca Jane Dunbar Shuff.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
