My handsome husband!

My handsome husband!

Today is my man’s birthday!
Tim loved his momma’s German chocolate cake. She would always make it for him for his birthday. He was always excited about his mother’s perfectly sized and delicious cake because he is the only one in our family who enjoys it, so that meant more for him.
Well, when Jany joined Jesus three years ago, I was the one to take on the honor of blessing Tim with his annual birthday German Chocolate cake. Yay, lucky me, not. I must say though, every time I make Tim’s cake I am reminded that “No one is perfect”.
The first time I made it we were in Kentucky. Jany only had a hand mixer and not the free-standing Kitchen Aid that I had become accustomed to. Making those egg whites come to a “peak” was a long and tedious process. I thought I was reaching the peak of Mt. Everest instead of an egg-white-peak. Slow-boiling the frosting, when I had no clue what it should look like, seemed like another forever development. The process may have been long, but the end result was moist and d-e-li-cious!
Last year we had a huge laugh! While singing the birthday song, we were hysterical. Why? The presentation of his cake was pathetic. This time the process was quicker, the appearance was pitiful, but again the taste was spot on. It went to show that “you can’t judge a book by its cover”.
So why should this year be any different? Well, it’s not. I am getting the hang of mixing all the ingredients, but the display looked like, as Tim said, the leaning tower of Pisa. Heck, I even wore her apron to maybe bring me some luck.  Once more, we had a good laugh. And, oooo, the taste was yummy.
Go ahead...laugh!

Go ahead…laugh!

I told Tim that every time I make this cake I am reminded that 1) I miss his momma, and 2) no one is perfect. I’m not perfect, and neither is Tim, but one thing is for sure….We are perfect for each other.
I thank God multiple times, every single day, for my man and our relationship. A relationship with flaws, but with Jesus it is flawless.
Tim, I wish you the happiest of birthdays! I’m grateful that God placed you on earth forty-seven years ago, and in my life thirty-one years ago. I love you with all my heart! Now, go get the big buck.
I pray many blessings and much JOY for you! Have a wonderful day. – Stephanie
