The morning light was peeping through the window blinds. I was lying in bed praying, thinking, and ready to start my day, yet continued to just lie there reflecting on the past few days. Restlessness got the best of me, so I decided to get ready and walk out to the beach.
While still no view of the ocean, due to the mounds of sand dunes, I could hear the crashing of the waves. Peacefulness automatically calmed the restlessness that was within me.
I noticed one lone surfer out in the distance. Straddling his board, waiting for his next wave to ride, I could sense his mind at ease and yet brimming with anticipation. When observing the lone surfer, I tried to imagine the thoughts going through his mind, and how small he must have felt knowing that he was a part of something much greater than he.
Our daughter loves to surf. When I asked her how she felt when out in the water, she mentioned how she felt at one with the ocean…she felt connected to the ocean. Holly loves waving her fingers across the surface feeling the rhythm of the movement the ocean makes.
This all made me think about my time with God. I treasure and revere my alone time with my Heavenly Father. Knowing that I am a part of something much greater than myself. The peace and joy that fills my being, and how my time with Him brings about serenity, is comforting. When I spend my time in prayer, thought, and bible reading with Him, I feel connected to The Creator of all. I can be at complete ease being a lone worshipper.

But when you pray, you should go into your room and close the door. Then pray to your Father. He is there in that private place. He can see what is done in private, and he will reward you. Matthew 6:6
