I have a question for you at the end.  Your opinion is appreciated.
Day 9 of 2020
Genesis 20:1-22:24
*Abraham, Abraham, Abraham…you didn’t learn your lesson on lying about posing your wife as your sister.  I think about how many times I should have learned my lesson in a situation, and still chose to regress. So sad.  Thankful for God stepping in and protecting the King, Sarah, and the whole town. God showed grace.
*Abraham came to the wrong assumption about King Abimelech.  We need to be careful to not assume someone to be a certain way because of the surroundings.
*Trust in God,  instead of taking matters into your own hands.
*A kid at 100 years of age?!  Nothing is impossible with God.
*Even when you have given up…God hasn’t.  God will provide.
*Chapter 22 always blows my mind! *God told Abraham to go and sacrifice his beloved son. In verse 3 it says that he got up early and went.  I couldn’t imagine he slept at all that night! *I could go on and on regarding this scripture.  Here is a link to my thoughts on this before: https://soakinguptheson.com/new/daily-journaling/faith/
Matthew 7:15-29
*Don’t just talk a godly game, live it.  Can others tell that you are a Christian by your actions?  I’ve often heard, read, and even written about the saying “You just may be the only bible someone reads.”  Praying that our actions/daily living exemplifies Christ.
*How devastating the thought of “living a good life” and not getting to spend eternity in Heaven is to me.  It takes much more simply living a good life. We need to live a God-life. That’s God-life with a capital G, not lowercase g. If we live a god-life we are choosing to put others or things above God first.  Oh how I pray that you (myself included) will wake each day with the desire and determination to seek Christ first in all we say and do, and to live for Him and not others and/or self.
*follow and obey God = wise.  Doesn’t obey = foolish. What’s your choice. Choose wisely. (Wink)
Psalm 9:1-12
*Praise the Lord with your whole heart, not just a portion. He has done, and will continue to do great things.  Just thinking about Him fills me with joy. I get giddy when reading His word, reflecting on what all He has done for me, listening and singing along to Christian music, etc.  Be filled with joy. (Verses 1-2)
*Someone needs to hear this…verse 10b, “…for you, O LORD, do not abandon those who search for you.” Oh, please search for God.  Seek Him daily. You are not alone.
Proverbs 2:16-22
*Be a person of integrity. Stay on God’s path.
*I’m just going to share what the notes say in my study bible…good stuff: Two of the most difficult sins to resist are pride and sexual immorality.  Both are seductive. Pride says, “I deserve it”; sexual desire says, “I need it”/. In combination, their appeal is deadly. In fact, says Solomon, only by relying on God’s strength can we overcome them.  Pride appeals to the empty head; sexual enticement to the empty heart. By looking to God, we can fill our heads with his wisdom and our hearts with his love. Don’t be fooled. Remember what God says about who you are and what you were meant to be.  Ask him for strength to resist these temptations. AMEN!
Happy Thursday, y’all!!
Okay, so I have been posting my read-through-th-bible daily on SUTS, but still want to share everyday-life examples that God gives me.  I don’t want to overload you with emails or updates.  So, would you prefer
1) for the daily journaling to be strictly on the Soaking Up The Son Facebook page and save the website for devotionals?
2) do an end of the week posting of the daily reads journaling?
3) Post daily read journaling on Tuesday and Friday only?
My heart is to be an encourager in the Word.  But I know when I get daily postings, I often seem to overlook some here or there.
I am praying about this and taking it to God first.  I do value your opinion as a reader and hopefully a participator.  I just get so excited each day after reading God’s word.
Please text, message, comment, however your response: 1, 2, 3, or “here’s an idea”.  Trust me, you will NOT hurt my feelings. Honesty is the best policy.  THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Blessings to you and yours,
Stephanie
